What is Psychotherapy ?
Psychotherapy is a conversation with a trained therapist to talk about and process feelings and difficulties in a safe and contained environment.
We all face difficulties in our lives at some time. These can be in response to life events such as bereavement, problems at work, conflict in relationships or can relate to past experiences. Uncomfortable feelings can accumulate and impact negatively on our relationships or family life. In response we can feel lonely, anxious or depressed leading to low self-esteem and a sense of helplessness.
It can help you with a range of issues, including:
- Anxiety
- Depression
- Stress
- Bereavement or loss
- Relationships
- Self esteem and negative self image
- Addictions and compulsive behaviour
- Work stress or issues
- Emotional or physical abuse
- Feelings of being different
- Post traumatic stress (PTSD)
Struggles from the past and painful situations in the present as well as concerns about the future can sometimes make it difficult to cope with everyday life. Understanding the events in your life helps to achieve a change in perception and awareness as well as developing a greater capacity to relate to yourself and to others and live life more fully.
I offer a number of different services, explained below, to help and support you, with all sessions lasting 50 minutes. We would have a free 10 minute telephone consultation where we can discuss your needs. Should you wish to go ahead with short or long term therapy we will meet for an initial assessment session which will allow for me to find out in more detail about you and what has brought you to therapy at this time. It is also an opportunity for us to see how we might work together.

Psychotherapy
I offer both open ended and short term therapy, which can be carried out in person, online or over the telephone.
Psychotherapy is an opportunity to explore and work towards making deeper changes and connections. This space can facilitate greater knowledge and understanding of how you feel in relation to yourself and the world around you. It might involve examining the past, thinking about current struggles and shining a light on existing patterns and core beliefs which underpin your way of being.
Clinical Supervision
I am a qualified clinical supervisor, offering individual and group sessions in person and online to qualified and trainee psychotherapists and counsellors.
As an integrative and relational supervisor, I aim to offer a collaborative and supportive space in which supervisees can reflect and process their work with clients in a safe and facilitative way. It is an opportunity to explore different perspectives, learn and develop skills, grapple with difference as well as safeguarding the client and working through ethical dilemmas.
For Organisations
Reflective Practice offers professionals the space to explore and think about the work they do and the impact it has on them and the organisation. Usually carried out in a group format, it gives the opportunity to reflect and gain valuable insight into what is happening and what can be done differently in the workplace. Themes which can be addressed in reflective practice sessions include, case load , organisation changes and dynamics, work life balance, and vicarious trauma.
Critical Incident Stress Debrief (CISD) is a type of crisis intervention designed to provide support for those who have experienced a traumatic event in the workplace such as loss of colleagues, redundancies and severe workplace accidents resulting in injury or loss. Sessions can be carried out individually or in groups
